What happens if I miss the deadline of 31 March and fail to complete the renewal process by 30 April?

Modified on Mon, 9 Sep, 2024 at 1:14 PM

Barristers who fail to complete the renewal process by 30 April will no longer appear on the BSB Barrister’ Register and will not be authorised to practise.

It is a criminal offence under the Legal Services Act 2007 to carry on any reserved legal activities without a practising certificate which authorises you to do so.

From 1 May, any barrister believed to be practising without a practising certificate will be reported to the BSB, who will take such action as is considered appropriate.
