I'm trying to renew my Practising Certificate, but can't see the option in MyBar.

Modified on Mon, 3 Mar at 3:20 PM

Once the Authorisation to Practise (AtP) process opens, when you log in to your MyBar account you will see a purple banner at the top of the homepage. Toward the right hand side of the banner, there will be a 'Renew online' button which you can click to start the process, as below:

If you cannot see the renewal banner when you expect to, this could be for a few reasons:

AtP has not opened yet

The renewal banner only appears from when the renewal process has formally opened until it closes on 30 April each year.  You will receive an email confirming the start of the process and only then will you be able to see the option to renew in your MyBar account.

You delegated payment and your administrator has requested their invoice

Once you delegate payment to your chambers or organisation, the purple banner will show you the option to 'Amend' your declarations up until the point that your administrator requests their invoice. Once the invoice is requested, then the banner will no longer show in your account as you will not be able to make any further changes through MyBar.

You have already completed the process

Once you complete your AtP renewal, the banner will no longer appear in your account. If you have completed your renewal and have not received confirmation of having done so within a few hours by email, please contact us.

You are an unregistered barrister

Only barristers who currently hold practising certificates will see the option to renew during AtP. If you are an unregistered barrister and are returning to practice or are applying for your first practising certificate, you will need to complete a 'New or Returning Authorisation to Practise Form' instead.

Any other reason

If the reasons above do not apply to you and you still cannot see the renewal banner but should be able to, then please contact the Barrister Records Team so that we can look into this for you. You can contact us by live chat in the bottom right hand corner of this page or by submitting your enquiry here and we will get back to you as soon as we can.
