How do I check someone is a barrister?

If you would like to confirm if someone has been Called to the Bar of England and Wales, the first place to check is the Barristers’ Register on the Bar Standards Board website:

This is an online directory of all barristers of England & Wales that are currently authorised to practise (hold a practising certificate). You can search the individual’s name and view details about their practising status and address (if published), the reserved legal activities they are authorised to undertake and whether they have been the subject of any disciplinary findings.
