Can a barrister have multiple places of practice?

Yes, you will just need to ensure any new places of practice are updated on your records.

However, you will also need to consider whether an additional place of practice will also mean that you need to change your practising status.

For example, if you are a self-employed barrister and are joining an additional chambers you will simply need to inform us of the additional practising address and the date you are commencing practice from there. You can do this through your MyBar account.

However, if you are a self-employed barrister and are joining an organisation as an employed barrister, then you would need to complete a change of practising status application through your MyBar account. This will enable you to inform us you are now practising as a dual capacity barrister and provide details of your new place of practice as part of that process.
