All barristers are subject to rS20 of the BSB Handbook (also known as the 'three year rule'), which requires you to work with a qualified person until such time that you have accrued three years’ standing if you wish to exercise rights of audience, supply legal services to the public or conduct litigation (if you are authorised to do so by the BSB).
This applies equally to newly qualified barristers, transferring lawyers recently called to the Bar, and any barrister who has not previously worked with a qualified person for three years (or been granted a waiver from this requirement). You can read rS20 in full in the BSB Handbook here.
